my name is mikayla rasmuson (aka sister rasmuson) and this is my missionary blog! i am a member of and a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints.
i know that God is my Heavenly Father and that He loves me and i love Him. because He loves us, He restored the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth through joseph smith, whom He made a prophet. joseph smith translated the Book of Mormon - an ancient text written by a people led by Heavenly Father out of Jerusalem to the americas - into english for us to read today.
i know that Jesus Christ came to this earth to be an example to us and to set up His church on the earth. He then suffered in the garden of Gethsemane for our sins and our pains. He died on the cross at Calvary to complete the atonement for us. it was impossible for anyone else to do, He alone was the only one who could, and He did because He loves us so much and wants us to be able to return to live with Him and our Father again. "God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son." three days later, Christ rose from the tomb and was resurrected.
after Christ's resurrection, He visited the people of the Book of Mormon and taught and blessed them. He organized His church there just as He did during His earthly ministry and as He again did when He restored it through joseph smith.
from joseph smith to each of the following prophets, we receive modern-day revelation directly from Heavenly Father. i love brother joseph, he is a dear friend and i am thankful that He prayed in the sacred grove that spring day; it changed the world, it changed my world. and i know thomas s. monson recieves revelation for the world today, how wonderful is that? God is still aware of our needs, that didn't end with the death of Christ's original apostles.
since i am now able to serve a mission at 19 instead of 21, i am so excited to share the message of the gospel with the people of spokane washington! i know that i will have the Spirit of God with me as a teach because He loves to testify of the restoration of the gospel to the earth and of Christ and His atonement.
please do not forget the missionaries in your prayers.
love,
sister rasmuson
