Hi

hello!

what a wonderful week it has been in the washington spokane mission! i love being a missionary!

i am sister training leader - i really want my title to be changed to sister zone leader, much better! - for my zone so i get to go to mission leadership conference with the zone leaders. tuesday was the weirdest thing ever! i drove to spokane with the zone leaders. me and the zone leaders. driving away from my companion was such a strange feeling! weird! i was so excited to see the other sister training leaders after being with the zone leaders. alone. you don't even realize how much you love to be around your companions.

we had an awesome day on friday! i love the days you have to eat in the car! they are the best! we didn't have time for lunch or dinner we had so many appointments. it was awesome. those days really make you feel like a missionary!

our members here are awesome! we go out with members almost everyday to do our work! if only they would be the ones to give us the names of people to go teach... thats okay. its a start! rides today, referrals tomorrow.

being a missionary is so much fun!

i love going around every day just talking to people about the joy of the gospel! it is the best thing ever!

love,
sister training leader rasmuson :)

p.s. the pictures are of (1) all the sister training leaders at mlc (2) my cucumbers. got 6 at church yesterday! members. fresh from the garden. yum! going to have to get creative :)

HI all!!

hello!

i had a really great week! i was going to tell some funny stories, some uplifting miracles and some powerful spiritual experiences. really i am sure i was. but thomas and kirsten are having a baby today. maybe even as i type. rylee lynn rasmuson. i'm going to be a auntie! needless to say, i have forgotten everything else that happened this week. but i am sure it was good... oh well! happy birth day rylee!

love

a.k.a awesome missionary

team rylee lynn!

HEllo!

hello!

life has been crazy the last few weeks!

i got to go to the temple last week! i love the temple! i wish we could go more often! but my work is currently with the living! and i love it! the drive was 2.5 hours each direction- and i got to drive it. it was so wonderful and refreshing.

then this week pday was weird again because of labor day and mission leadership conference (for zone leaders and sister training leaders). finally it is a normal pday! i can get stuff done!

we are seeing miracles everyday! i love it! i just love being a missionary!

sister woodfield, my companion, is awesome! i love working with her! she is hilarious and we laugh a ton! plus we get to see the other sisters in our district a lot. i love them too! missionary work is work, but it can be fun work!

we have some investigators! awesome right? we don't always have a ton of those so it is nice to be teaching people! i don't know if all of them will get baptized right away but we do have one, ana. she is legit! a member of the branch invited her to hear him speak in church. she came. we met with her. invited her to be baptized. she said yes! missionary work is fun!

transfers are coming up this week. i wonder what will happen this coming week! i would love to stay companions with sister woodfield but i have never had a companion that long or trained anyone past the first 6 weeks (except myself). i told her that i don't know what to do with people after 6 weeks. i would wake up in the morning on the day after transfers and ask her, "why are you still here?" that would just be weird!

i love this work. i know that it is god's work that i am doing here in lewiston! we have been learning about the atonement a lot in this mission. it is awesome! i love the atonement. jesus christ really did suffer and die for us. he was resurrected. and he lives! i am coming to know this personally more and more for myself. not only by the words of others but by the spirit. through the spirit is how i am getting to know it for myself. the atonement helps us through everything! christ suffered everything for us! because of that, he knows us perfectly. he is god's greatest gift to us.

"for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." (john 3:16)

love,
mikayla

Hola Readers!

hola readers!

transfers this week! i am again staying in lewiston! but my area did get split so i will just be serving in the young single adult branch only. sister woodfield in staying in the family ward. and i am second training her mtc (missionary training center) companion. sister gardiner.

i love transfers. i don't have a car, a place to live and don't know how to pick up my companion. all has to be figured out by tomorrow. woo.

this week was great! i drove to spokane alone with the zone leaders to mission leadership conference.  which was great!

nothing really exciting happened this week. we do have a new investigator. her name is becca. she is on date to get baptized at home in mccall, id. but is going to school at lewis clark state college in lewiston so we will be meeting with her until then. she is so cute and super solid!

not much to report. good week!
love you all! the church is true!

love,

Hello All!!!

hello all!
what fun it is to be a missionary! we do see so many miracles! this week has been great!

as it was the end of the month our car was basically out of miles for the month so we had to ride bikes everyday instead of just during the week. my quads got a workout but i can tell i've gotten so much stronger! that is exciting!

although my muscles are stronger, that doesn't mean i actually have mad skills on my bike... i was putting it down the other day (i don't have a kick stand) and the poky part of the thingy that turns the chain went right into my foot. that felt nice. i've done it before but this time it actually drew blood. everyone enjoyed the princess band-aide on my foot to protect my shoes from being stained. adorable! and classy.

sister thompson is the bomb! seriously. so i noticed that i had been taking the lead too much in everything so this week i get to pretend to be a brand new missionary that has no clue what is going on. it is quite fun during companionship study! it will be a great skill for sis t to have as we may be training in just a couple weeks.

my companion is such a good missionary! seriously. companions truly are inspired!

funny story about what missionaries do to motivate themselves to push themselves... sister thompson and i had not been getting enough church tour invites so we decided to do something to really get us to get those church tours! saturday we were close to out of peanut butter and were looking forward to p-day when we could replenish our supply at walmart with a big jar. what better motivation? "if you don't get 5 church tour invites tomorrow, you can't buy any peanut butter this week." we even signed a contract on a super-sticky sticky note. it worked! we got 7 church tour invites and a jar of peanut butter! score! kinda sad what motivates us...

I will share a miracle with you about a less- active here in Lewiston. Ready? Saturday night we had tried everyone we wrote down and it was only 8:25 so we decided to try someone else close by. We had planned to go see this family before but hadn't gotten in contact with them. We go in, get to know them a bit and then shared the Restoration with Sister L and Andy (8). They haven't been to church since she got divorced from Andy's dad and she has never read the Book of Mormon so as not promising as it sounded we invited them to church. And she said that she would be fine going but that her and Andy would have to discuss it. Then Andy piped up and said, "I already know. I want to go to church." So sacrament meeting came and they were there! Andy was so excited and they stayed for the whole meeting! It was awesome!  Then everyone in the ward we talked to told us how shocked they were that they came! Apparently it has seemed like a lost cause for ages. Everyone wanted to know what we did to get them there. And honestly we didn't have much of an answer for them because we really did nothing except invite them to come. How wonderful!

miracles!

so, go out and invite everyone to church! now! i can promise you miracles!

Transfers!

Transfers!

I am now in Lewiston, ID! It is so different than Coeur d'Alene! I love it differently :)

My new companion Sister Thompson is great! We are both new so trying to figure out how to train eachother is crazy! I guess we might figure it out by the end of the transfer... I hope. It is fun though and Heavenly Father won't let us fail if we are doing our best! That is the most comforting thought I have.

There is some great potential here and once we find those who are ready and willing to hear the message of the resoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ there is going to be such a huge impact made on the people and the church in this area!

We have some great investigators right now! A couple are really solid and want to become more like Christ. It is so exciting to see!

I love being a missionary! It is the best "job" in the world. Every day you get to see people change, whether that is the people investigating the church, your companion or yourself. How wonderful is that!

Yesterday in church we watched this AWESOME Mormon message which EVERYONE should watch! It is about women and how great we are! Go watch it (lds.org)!

The Turners, recent converts from Cd'A, just got sealed in the temple Saturday! I am super jealous because Elder Went, my zone leader, got to go. He said it was basically the greatest experience of his life. Yeah. I am jealous. I love the Turners! Last Saturday, Sis Turner said that she was excited to get sealed so that she could kill Brother Turner. They are so great! Love them!

Elder Archibald from Park City served in my ward in Lewiston. Weird!

Anyways, that's all.

Hello congregation!

hello congregation!
have i told you that i love being a missionary? well i do. it is seriously the best "job" in the world! coeur d'alene is seriously one of the most beautiful places i have ever been, and i've been a lot of cool places. and talking about Christ and His gospel all day is not only not weird but natural and fulfilling. i just love it.
this week was such a blast! my companions are great and we just have too much fun even during weekly planning... sister probst and i both have a hard time sitting still and being stuck in one room for too long so hours of weekly planning is really difficult for us. especially on the weeks that sister o'very fills out our very long progress record... this week it deteriorated to me playing with sister probst's rubber chicken and making up accents to talk with and then throwing it at her when she teased me. it is a blast. poor sister o'very. i am so glad that she puts up with us.
sister probst went home today. yesterday when we said good-bye it was very sad. way harder than i thought. but i am so excited for her! she is going to go home and do wonderful things! she has left behind a great impact on the mission and on me. and will achieve great things at home!
sister o'very is the perfect opposite to me. it is amazing how different we are and yet how well we get along. her qualities are so exactly opposite from mine that we fit perfectly together. it is pretty remarkable. i love her too.
and am so sad that i don't get to work with either of them any more!
transfers are this week.
sister o'very gets to stay in cd'a and i am moving to louiston, id. don't ask because i know nothing about it! we will see what happens! my new companion is sister thomason she is the same "age" as me: 6 weeks! what an adventure this will be! i am sure that she'll be wonderful! we get to work in a young single adult ward so that will be interesting to work with people my own age and in a family ward. this transfer will be interesting.
when i told our bishop that i was leaving he said that sister powers who is replacing me here better be as awesome as me. haha! it made me feel so good about myself. bishop mcguire never says anything he doesnt mean. and he is very blunt. oh what fun!
funny stuff: we have ants.
lots of ants.
"the ants come marching 2 by 2. hurrah! hurrah!" - last tuesday
"the ants come marching 12 by 12. hurrah! hurrah! - friday
it has been an interesting week of blocking out the ants with comet, sucking them up with the vaccum and reading scriptures to my companions while the furiously tried to get rid of them.
we're buying ant spray today.
i know that what i am doing is the Lord's work. He has called me to do this work. i am a daughter of God. i know that He loves each and every one of us and that is why it is so important to share the gospel with every one. He wants every one to have the oppertunity to return and live with Him again.
go out and be a missionary!
love,
kk

ps i want more letters! ;)

Happy to here from Sister Rasmuson!

Shocker, I'm already behind on blog posts...
I am in Coeur d'Alene!
It is beautiful and the people are even better! I love it here! There is so much potential and so much work to do!
I have 2 companions, Sisters Probst (our trainer) and Sister O'Very (who was also my MTC companion) and I LOVE them both! They are awesome! We are double training which has never been done in this mission before and it is awesome! Not that I know any other way or what actually works best but love training this way!
Sister Probst is lovingly cruel and makes us take the lead on everything our second day when she left us to go to a leadership conference and we had to do member visits alone... It was CRAZY!
But good thing she got us so ahead in our training because we now HAVE to take the lead in everything because she is SUPER sick and can't even function. I think the Lord has a hand in this to prepare us for something. We need to be ready to do everything all on our own for a reason. I am not sure what it is, but there must be one, otherwise Sister Probst wouldn't be napping at members homes while we go visit people. Pray for her to get better!
The ward is AMAZING! Love them all. And they are hilarious! Its a blast!
We have several investigators and love them all! They are wonderful! I can't wait for them to get baptized!
There is one couple that are seriously already Mormon. More Mormon than me! He is going to be the next mission president somewhere once he is baptized. They are that amazing!
Remeber the talks given in conference and pray for missionary oppertunities! Offer to have the missionaries teach in your home and give them names! They don't have to say where they got the referral!
Love you all!
Love,
Sister Rasmuson

Hello All!

Hello all!
I have officially been a missionary for over a week now! It is crazy and exciting! I LOVE the MTC! Shocker, right? I am learning so much and I love EVERYONE! Honestly.
My first few nights were terrible but through faith in Heavenly Father and in the power of the priesthood, they no longer leave me questioning my purpose here. I have been so blessed!
Sister O'Very and I have grown so much as a companionship and as sisters. I love her! Even though she goes to BYU... I forgive her though because we make such an awesome companionship. On the first day our teacher told us that our companions and districts were decided by Heavenly Father through direct revelation and immediately my love for this random sister missionary sitting next to me grew tenfold. She is so amazing and I am so thankful for her support of me.
It feels like I have been at the MTC for an eternity! There is no way I could possibly have learned so much in just one week! Only by the power of God and His Spirit is that possible.
We have taught a lot and at first we were so nervous about it but it has been awesome! Even though we are just role playing, every time we testify of the Atonement or the Restoration I feel the Spirit! Because it is true! The Spirit loves to testify of that! And every time it happens, my testimony grows because if it wasn't true, we wouldn't feel the Spirit EVERY TIME! I love it!
Heavenly Father wants us to succeed as missionaries which is why we get to have these awesome experiences all the time!
I cannot believe that I am already almost going to leave, but the days are filled with so much that in some ways Monday is a long ways off. I look forward to that day with nervous excitement!
As far as being called "Sister Rasmuson" goes, I love it! I thought that it would be totally weird but its not. All the people that I love I call "sister" or "elder" and so I feel like being called "Sister Rasmuson" is a term of love and respect. Crazy!
I love the gospel and most importantly, I love my Heavenly Father and that He has blessed me so much; I want to share this message with everyone I meet because I want everyone to feel as great as I do!
Thank you for your support and prayers!
Love,
Sister Rasmuson
